A large part of the Kenwood look is custom matching wood for color and grain patterns.

On a kitchen project, for example, the wood used for rails, stiles, and panels is matched for color and grain before assembly. Doors and drawer fronts are custom designed and built on site.

Rails and stiles for doors and face frames are sorted for grain-match before assembly. When making a solid wood door panel, boards are resawn width-way and laminated together to form book matched panels. Pieces are then custom finished.

A special characteristic
for cabinets and furniture is the use of dovetail joinery. Whether for a bank of kitchen drawers, spice compartment or featured exposed joinery, this detail is timeless in its beauty.

Kenwood Designs can work directly with the individual or company to meet their custom cabinet or furniture needs. Working collaboratively with home owners, kitchen and interior designers and architects Kenwood Cabinets has a reputation for integrity of design and attention to detail.

After initial contact by phone, fax or E-mail, an on-site visit is usually in order to start the process towards project completion. This is done by the owner who oversees all aspects of drafting and design.

Plans and elevations are drawn on a mini CAD program with more intricate details drafted by hand. All concepts and drawings are reviewed with the client for changes and approval. A sample door or other cabinet piece is often built to check final detail, look and finish. This sample can then be taken by the client to use in coordinating tile, flooring, wall color and other architectural details.
